Pickleball SA
We are excited to host Pickleball SA on site.Pickleball is an exciting new sport that has been in Australia since 2017 and in South Australia since late 2019. About 250 people play pickleball every month in South Australia. The sport is growing because it is welcoming to all ages and abilities. Picklball is inclusive, so whatever your level, you can find playing partners and enjoy.
Pickleball is a paddle sport you can learn in minutes and play for a lifetime. It brings together elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong to create a sport that’s fun for all ages and skill levels, but gets fast-paced and exhilarating at competitive levels.
Play is indoors on our badminton-sized court. Usually played as doubles, but also played as singles.
Unlike tennis or badminton, Pickleball use a solid paddle to hit a plastic ball over a low net. A game takes 10-25 minutes.
Serving is under-arm and rallies involve serving, ground strokes, volleys and dinks.
Whether you’ve been playing racquet sports your whole life, or you’re walking onto a court for the first time; whether you’re young, old, or in between; whether you’re strategic and competitive, or just want to get involved in something fun, social or active… pickleball is for you!

How is pickleball different from other racquet sports?
- It’s easier to pick up than many raquet sports
- It’s lower impact than tennis and badminton, so it’s easier on the body
- It focuses on quick reflexes and aiming, rather than spiking the ball, powerful serves, or running speed.
